Reproduces a letter from Pound to Reck (who was then in Japan with the Army) guiding his translation of the Women of Trachis into Japanese; and, interleaved verse by verse with Pound’s, Fenollosa’s translation of Li Bai’s “Exile’s Letter” (partial) and “The River Merchant’s Wife.” First English edition, one year after the American. A fine book with Moody’s occasional annotation in a very good jacket, a few scratches to the back cover and one small tear to the front.
